The long anticipated part one of the end of easily one of the best movie franchises of all time is finally out and duh I jumped on board for the midnight premiere. And I must say…this movie brings it.

I was very disappointed with the Half Blood Prince. It left out too much and was trying to be something that it had no business being…funny and romantic. Yes we have that romance and comedy in Harry Potter but it’s not the focus, it’s the add-on to the drama. In Part 1 of the Deathly Hallows they bring back that dramatic feel. Starting with Hermione erasing the memories of her parents and Harry and Ron staring towards nothing you can tell that this is going to be intense. The best part of the film is the development of the three main protagonists, Harry, Ron, and Hermione. These three have grown up so much since the first film and in this one they showcase how great they have become as actors and lay the foundation for growing film roles in the future outside of the franchise. Emma Watson as Hermione gave the best performance of the film followed closely by Rupert Grint as Ron. They both have that amazing chemistry that makes their friendship believable while Daniel Radcliffe builds more off of his stellar Half Blood Prince performance (one good part of that movie). Now I do have a few issues with this movie. I don’t want to be anal but I saw a few issues film wise that was killing me. First, there were just some horribly shot scenes where the camera was shaking as if the camera worker was tripping while he was filming with his FLIP camera. I’m sorry but that’s unacceptable David Yates! Also, the scenes of the three main characters in the wilderness was kind of draggy but I guess that comes with them trying to get every detail out of the book. Overall this is probably one of the best Harry Potter films and shapes up for an epic finale. An easy recommendation.
