The nominations for this year’s Golden Globes was released today and fresh off seeing them I felt the need to write my predictions down. (These are possible to change)

Best Picture- Drama
Black Swan
The Fighter
The Social Network***
The King’s Speech

Why: Like I said it may change and I have yet to see Black Swan which is supposed to be amazing but still I went with The Social Network. This was a tough one with Inception but I feel like The Social Network gave not only a large amount of stellar performances it also was familiar with audiences and David Fincher shot a beautiful movie.

Best Picture- Musical or Comedy
Alice in Wonderland
The Kids Are All Right***
The Tourist

Why: Well this one was easy. The rest of the nominees are laughable. Easy win.

Best Actor- Drama
Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network)
Colin Firth (The King’s Speech)
James Franco (127 Hours)***
Ryan Gosling (Blue Valentine)
Mark Wahlberg (The Fighter)

Why: Franco gives a thrilling performance in an amazing movie. I believe this race comes down to him and Colin Firth.

Best Actor- Musical or Comedy
Johnny Depp (Alice in Wonderland)
Johnny Depp (The Tourist)
Paul Giamatti (Barney’s Version)
Jake Gyllenhaal (Love and Other Drugs)
Kevin Spacey (Casino Jack)***

Why: Haven’t seen it but from what I’ve heard he’s brilliant. Plus why is Johnny Depp there twice? And Jake Gyllenhaal? Really Golden Globes? Really?

Best Supporting Actor
Christian Bale (The Fighter)***#
Michael Douglas (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps)
Andrew Garfield (The Social Network)
Jeremy Renner (The Town)
Geoffrey Rush (The King’s Speech)

Why: Bale gives the most captivating performance of the movie and his career and deserves recognition for it.

Best Actress- Drama
Halle Berry (Frankie and Alice)
Nicole Kidman (Rabbit Hole)
Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone)
Natalie Portman (Black Swan)***
Michelle Williams (Blue Valentine)

Why: Now I haven’t seen it but a lot of press is following Portman on this performance. I’ll get back with more once I am able to see it.

Best Actress- Musical or Comedy
Annette Bening (The Kids Are All Right)
Anne Hathaway (Love and Other Drugs)
Angelina Jolie (The Tourist)
Julianne Moore (The Kids Are All Right)***
Emma Stone (Easy A)

Why: This one comes down to Bening or Moore. I mean I wish I could be in the room where they decided to put the other nominees into this. I mean have they read anything that anyone has written about The Tourist?

Best Supporting Actress
Amy Adams (The Fighter)
Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech)***
Mila Kunis (Black Swan)
Melissa Leo (The Fighter)
Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom)

Why: Like I said before, this movie is going to make some noise. I’m surprised they didn’t put nominate her for Alice in Wonderland actually. It would fit the WTF?? theme.

Best Director
Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan)
David Fincher (The Social Network)
Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech)
Christopher Nolan (Inception)***
David O. Russell (The Fighter)

Why: I’m going for an upset on this one mainly due to the pure originality of “Inception” and how Nolan blew minds with it. But it is close with Fincher and Aronofsky.

Best Screenplay
127 Hours
The Kids Are All Right
The King’s Speech
The Social Network***

Why: It was spectacular and is what made me fall in love with the film. It’s a tough pick between this and Inception though.

Best Original Score
127 Hours
Alice In Wonderland
The King’s Speech
The Social Network

Why: DUH. Hans Zimmer.

Best Animated Film
Despicable Me
How To Train Your Dragon
The Illusionist
Toy Story 3***

Why: Do I really need to tell you why?

#- I changed my pick for Best Supporting Actor to Christian Bale
