Kristen Wiig and company make us laugh, cry, and gag. BRIDESMAIDS!
Bridesmaids starts out easily as one of the funniest movies of the year. Kristen Wiig is absolutely hilarious in the lead role. She is slowly watching her life fall apart due to her business going under, her boyfriend leaving, and a lack of funds due to a crappy new job. Her friend, played by Maya Rudolph, gets engaged and Wiig starts to see her life as behind everyone’s due to this but she still agrees to become Rudolph’s maid of honor. Her bridal party consists of Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Elle Kemper, and Wendi McClendon-Covey. McCarthy stands out with a hilarious performance that can easily be correlated to Zack Galifianakis in The Hangover. Rose Byrne plays perfect Helen who becomes the rival of Kristen Wiig due to her growing friendship with Maya Rudolph. Bridesmaids suffers from starting out with a giant bang of great comedy and slowly falling into a typical rom-com but at the same time it’s still a unusual romantic comedy path so it plays as a lot more fun than going to trash such as Something Borrowed. It still is an extremely funny movie and has some classic scenes.
I recommend seeing Bridesmaids if you want to go to a movie with a girl but not have to deal with a lot of sappy romantic comedy trash.
